About Me
I’m Nitya Lopez, a Basque director and screenwriter based in Bilbao.
In 2018, I directed my first short film, Jesus is B(l)ack, for which I received the Best Young Filmmaker award at the U22 Film Fest. In 2019, I directed Infraganti, a finalist at Notodofilmfest, and in 2021, Txoriak Txori. My latest short film, Deadly Draw (Sorteo Mortal) (2023), selected for the Kimuak catalogue, has accumulated over 30 festival selections.
In recent years, I have written and directed several award-winning music videos, including Teloia by Liher, a two-part piece for Niño Coyote eta Chica Tornado, Zerua Irabazi by Bele, and Esperoan by Erromintxelak.
I have developed my experience within the industry as part of the directing team on more than 30 films and series, including Ane (David P. Sañudo), May I Speak with the Enemy? (Alexis Morante), The Good Boss (Fernando León de Aranoa), Maixabel (Icíar Bollaín), The Fortune (Alejandro Amenábar), as well as the series Intimacy, Offworld, and Balenciaga.
In 2024, I directed second unit on the series Zeru Ahoak, directed by Koldo Almandoz and produced by Txintxua Films, which premiered in the Official Selection at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. In 2025, I also directed second unit on the series Irabazi Arte for EITB. In 2026, I co-direct two episodes of the documentary series Acoustic Home for HBO Max, and I write and direct the comedy series Aloka(h)iru, co-created with Alba Lozano for EITB, currently in post-production.
I am currently in post-production on my first feature-length documentary, Simulacro de Fisión del Núcleo, with an expected release from September 2026.
